Wokingham Borough Council

LET’S TALK CLIMATE CHANGE DELIBERATIVE PEER GROUPS

Working with The Consultation Institute, I facilitated online deliberative groups.

Objectives of the Community Deliberative Process

To empower residents, businesses, local organisations, schools and stakeholders to be part of the Borough’s net-zero carbon 2030 vision.

The theme of the group was “Design” in which we worked together to look at ‘what will be’

•Prioritising what was felt important

•Highlighting what to eliminate

Focusing on the priority areas identified in the borough’s Climate Emergency Plan:

Transport: travel less, reduce dependency on private vehicles, modal shift to public transport, walking and cycling more, and transitioning to electric vehicles

Energy & Homes: reduce energy consumption by adopting better behaviours, improving our homes, and adopting green technologies

Waste: reduce the amount of waste generated and improve our recycling behaviours

Food: understand the impact of food choices, consume local, seasonal produce
