Trust and Health Creation partnership programme
South East London Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (SEL VCSE) Strategic Alliance, King’s Health Partners, and SEL Integrated Care Board (ICB) were looking to partner grassroots ‘by and for’ VCSE organisations based in South East London (SEL) to co-create a prevention and health-creation collaborative that will build trust, foster equity, and promote wellness within communities who experience the greatest health inequalities.
They partnered with five specialist organisations that are led, designed, and delivered by and for the minoritised and marginalised communities and groups they aim to serve, with a focus on: co-creating holistic and sustainable approaches | testing and learning from these approaches together | co-identifying and defining how to evaluate the impact of these approaches | co-developing a ´Trust & Health Creation model’ for roll-out across SEL | sharing learning to support transformation of health-led prevention services.
The initial focus was on vaccination and immunisation and the Vital 5 framework (healthy blood pressure, stop smoking, safe drinking, healthy weight and good mental health). The cohorts of focus are: adults from Black, African, and Caribbean heritage, LGBTQ+ communities, people with learning disabilities, and children and young people.
My role was to work via The Health Creation Alliance to facilitate, enable and support connections, relationships and trust between Partnership members, support Partnership members in their understanding and adoption of The Framework for Health Creation to enhance their co-creation of holistic and sustainable approaches to community-led prevention and health-creation activities that address wider life needs of the five VCSE partners´ communities.
